⚠ Consumer Alert: Deceptive Trial Enrollment at WPS Office
(For anyone considering a subscription)
Summary:
I purchased a 2-year WPS Pro membership for about $80 — and without clear consent, I was also enrolled in a separate “3-day free trial” for a different membership.
When that trial ended, my account was charged automatically. $95
When I contacted WPS Office immediately to request a refund, they refused. Why This Is a Problem:I never remember agreeing to start a trial for a second membership.I had already paid for a 2-year membership, so there was no reason for me to “try” something I’d supposedly already purchased.WPS Office automatically charged my account once the short trial expired. They refused to refund, citing their policy that electronic subscriptions are “final.”

Timeline of Events:
08-12-2025 — Purchased WPS Pro 2-year membership (charged immediately).[Same Date or Shortly After] — Without clear disclosure, a WPS AI “3-day free trial” was added to my account.08-14-2025 — Trial expired; account was charged for the AI membership without further confirmation.08-14-2025 — Contacted WPS Office to request a refund.
Their Response (direct quote from email):“We have canceled the auto renewal in the background… Sorry for that we are not supported refund without the functional problem, you can continue to enjoy the WPS privilege during the valid period.”

Why Consumers Should Care:
This policy means:You can be enrolled into a trial without remembering or explicitly consentingThat trial can auto-convert to a paid subscriptionYou will be denied a refund even if you cancel immediately after the chargeThe burden is entirely on you to track their trial end date — even if you didn’t knowingly start one...Charging you an aditional $95
Advice Before You Sign Up:Read the auto-renewal policy before paying for anythingCheck your account for any “trial” memberships you didn’t realize you startedSet reminders to cancel before trials end, even if you think you didn’t start one
